Fast emergency roof repair when you need it most
When a roof lets water in, every hour counts. Dexters Build Ltd is a family-run roofing and building company offering emergency roof repair across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. With over 10 years' experience, we respond quickly to leaks, storm damage and tiles that have come loose, getting your property weathertight and protecting what is underneath. We are fully insured and work to a proper risk assessment, so the job is done safely even in poor conditions.
If water is coming in now, the quickest way to reach us is by phone. Ring 07951 017425 or our landline on 01582 438542 and we will arrange to get out to you. We cover both domestic and commercial property, so whether it is a home, a shop or an industrial unit, we can help.
The emergencies we deal with
Roof emergencies tend to arrive with bad weather, and they often share the same causes. We regularly attend:
- Active leaks coming through ceilings, around chimneys or at roof junctions.
- Storm and wind damage after a spell of high winds, including lifted or torn coverings.
- Slipped or missing tiles and slates that have left the roof open to the rain.
- Flat roof failures, such as split or ponding membranes letting water through.
- Blocked or broken guttering causing water to overflow down walls and into the building.
Make-safe first, then a permanent repair
Our first job in an emergency is to stop the water and make the roof safe. That usually means temporary weatherproofing, such as a tarpaulin or sheeting securely fixed over the damaged area, refitting or replacing the worst of the loose tiles, and clearing anything that is causing water to back up. This buys time and prevents further damage to your ceilings, walls and belongings.
Once the immediate risk is dealt with, we will assess the full extent of the problem and recommend a permanent fix. Depending on what we find, that might be a targeted roof repair, work to a flat roof covering, or, where a roof is genuinely beyond repair, advice on replacement. We will always explain what we have found and put a clear, free, no-obligation quote in writing before carrying out the permanent work.
What to do while you wait
There are a few things you can do safely from inside to limit the damage before we arrive. Move furniture, electronics and anything valuable away from the leak and out of the wet area. Put down a bucket or container to catch dripping water, and lay towels to soak up what spreads. If water is collecting in a bulging ceiling, and only if it is safe to do so, place a container beneath it; a sagging ceiling can hold a surprising amount of water. If water is anywhere near light fittings or sockets, switch off the power to that circuit at the consumer unit. Please do not go up onto the roof yourself, especially in wet or windy weather. Leave the roof to us.
Why choose Dexters Build in an emergency
We are a local, family-run firm, not a national outfit, so when you call you speak to the people who will actually carry out the work. All of our workmanship is fully guaranteed, we are fully insured, and every job is properly risk-assessed before we start. We will not pressure you into unnecessary work; we deal with the emergency, then give you honest advice and a fair price for putting things right for good.
